February 17, 2017

Bastia                                     1-1                     Monaco

Abdoulaye Sadio Diallo 19’                                                  Bernardo Silva 52’

Monaco remains on top of the Ligue 1 standings but could only get a point against Bastia. This should give hope to the chasing pack, OGC Nice and Paris Saint-Germain.

February 18, 2017

Marseille                                 2-0                       Rennes

Clinton Njie 59’
Florian Thauvin 64’

Marseille bounced back from their away defeat at Nantes with a ‘2-0’ home victory over Rennes. The victory allowed Marseille to open up a six-point lead on Rennes.

Lorient                                       0-1                     OGC Nice

                                                                                                         Wylan Cyprien 15’

In a match that ended with Mario Balotelli ‘harshly’ red carded off, Wylan Cyprien’s early goal in the first half gave OGC Nice an important away victory at Lorient, taking advantage of the points Monaco dropped against Bastia.

Angers                                       1-0                         Nancy

Jonathan Bamba 5’

Angers separated themselves on points from Nancy after a single early goal gave them a home victory.

Caen                                        0-1                          Lille

                                                                                                            Anwar El-Ghazi 70’

Playing with fewer men did not stop Lille from scoring the only goal of the match and leaving with Caen with a victory.

Metz                                       1-1                         Nantes

Cheick Diabate 90’+1’                                                                 Valentin Rongier 68’

Cheick Diabate scored a late goal in stoppage time to save Metz from a home defeat.

Francois Kamano 13’
Nicolas Pallois 43’
Gaetan Laborde 71’

Bordeaux defeated Guingamp to open a five-point gap between the two sides in the league standings.

Montpellier                              2-1                Saint-Etienne

Paul Bastien Lasne 49’                                                     Kevin Monnet-Paquet 12’
Steve Mounie 68’

Montpellier scored two in the second half to avoid a defeat at home against Saint-Etienne. The winning goal came against a 10-man Saint-Etienne side, but it was a deserved victory for the home side.

Lyon                                        4-2                    Dijon

Corentin Tolisso 11’ 80’                                                         Julio Tavares 30’
Alexandre Lacazette 84’(pen)                                           Lois Diony 48’
Nabil Fekir 90’

Dijon had plans of making it a consecutive victory in Ligue 1, but Lyon had other ideas.

Lyon had to get three goals in the final 10 minutes of regulation time to come from a goal down and secure a home victory over Dijon.

Alexandre Lacazette got the winning goal from the spot, but it was Corentin Tolisso goals that saved Lyon from a defeat.

Paris Saint-Germain                    0-0                  Toulouse

Champions League hangover?

PSG went from dismantling Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League to being held at home to a goalless draw by Toulouse.

With Monaco dropping points against Bastia, this was a great opportunity for PSG to close in on the league leaders.  A victory would have brought the defending champions to a point away from the top of the league.
