May 14, 2017

Saint-Etienne        0-5        Paris Saint Germain

                                                                                         Edinson Cavani 2’ 72’
                                                              Lucas Moura 38’ 78’
                                                              Julian Draxler 90’

Paris Saint-Germain did what they had to do to help defend their league title by thrashing Saint-Etienne.

As usual, Edinson Cavani got on the score sheet and remain as the top goalscorer with 33 goals.

Bordeaux             1-1            Marseille

Diego Forlan 2′                                   Bafetimbi Gomis 60’

Marseille got an important point ts keep themselves above Bordeaux in the league standings.

Montpellier          1-3          Lyon

Steve Mounie 35’                           Nabil Fekir 17’
                                                         Alexandre Fekir 22’
                                                        Alexandre Lacazette 90’+5’

With both teams know where they will finish in the league there wasn’t much to lose. Lyon picked up a victory to do a double over Montpellier.

OGC Nice         0-2            Angers

                                                          Cheikh  Ndoye 36’
                                                          Karl Toko Ekambi 90’+3’

Angers returned favor and handed OGC Nice a home defeat.

Bastia                2-0           Lorient

Enzo Crivelli 75’
Gael Danic 86’

Bastia gave themselves a shot at safety on the final day of the season.  Victory against fellow relegation-zoned Lorient created a possibility for four teams to join Nancy in relegation.

Dijon                  2-0             Nancy

Frederic Sammaritano 51’
Lois Diony 76’

There is still work to do on the final day to secure safety, but Dijon grabbed a very important victory over relegated Nancy.

Monaco                      4-0              Lille

Radamel Falcao 6′ 69′
Bernado Silva 45’+1′
Junior Alonso 88′(o.g)

It might not be official but Monaco has won the French Ligue 1 title.

This victory means that even Monaco will need a point in their match in hand against Saint-Etienne on Wednesday to take the tiltle. Even a Monaco defeat against Saint-Etienne will require Paris Saint-Germain to make up about 17+  goals to knock Monaco for the top of the Ligue 1 standings on the final day; virtually impossible.

Congratulations to Monaco!

Nantes             4-1         Guingamp

Adrien Thomasson 17’              Lucas Deaux 74’
Emiliano Sala 51’ 79’
Prejuce Nakoulma 69’

Nantes opened a four-point gap over Guingamp with a convincing home victory.

Caen                0-1         Rennes

                                                Giovanni Sio 68’

Relegation threat remains for Caen after being kept close to the drop zone for failing to get any point from this fixture.

Metz                  1-1         Toulouse

Ismaila Sarr 66’                          Martin Braithwaite 9’

Toulouse missed a penalty that would have handed them the maximum points. Both teams remain equal on points but goal-difference give Toulouse a major boost in the league standings.
