France leaves it late.(Again)

Posted on

Stade Velodrome, Marseille

France 2-0 Albania

Antoine Griezmann 90’

Dimitri Payet 90’+6

Another late show for France.

Albania almost squeezed a point from this match, and they would have deserved it.

Both teams were unlucky as they hit the woodwork. Olivier Giroud had good opportunities to be on the scoresheet for France.

Paul Pogba and Antoine Griezmann started off the match on the bench and were introduces in the second half. Pogba brought in to replace Anthony Martial at the start of the second half, and Antoine Griezmann came in the match to replace Kingsley Coman in the 68th minute.

Just like their first match against Romania, France and Dimitri Payet left it late. For the second match in a row, France won it late.

With the amount of heading opportunities France created, a goal was bound to come from it. Antoine Griezmann got on the end of Rami’s cross to head home the first goal of the match in the 90th minute.

It was game over when Albania threw more men in attack for an equalizer, thus creating space in their defense for France to exploit with a counter. For the second match in a row,

Dimitri Payet scored another late goal in the 2016 Euro to put 2 goals on the scoreboard for France.

This was Albania’s second match in the European Championship history, and the hunt for their first point continues. They will face Romania in their next Group A match.

This is panning out to be what fans expected from France. The host nation has won two out of two and leading the pack in Group A. They are into the knockout stage.

France will meet Switzerland in their final Group A match. A match that will decide who finishes as Group A winners.
