When a goal is needed against a stubborn defensive unit, Luca Toni was the kind of player that a team needed.
He was a handful for defenders by making good use of his physique in the penalty box. He gave attacking options with his hold-up play, his strength on the ball and his aerial threat. He broke to the scene when he leading Palermo to gain promotion from Serie B in 2004.
