COPA LIBERTADORES SEMIFINAL (FIRST LEG).

Flamengo take a massive advantage to the second leg.
Palmeiras and Athletico Paranaense have some work to do.
Velez Sarsfield has the most work to do.

August 30.

Athletico Paranaense 1-0 Palmeiras

Alex Santana scored the only goal of the match in the 23rd minute.
Athletico Paranaense is an away win or draw away from a Copa Libertadores final.

Athletico Paranaense have won the Copa Sudamericana title on two occasions (2018, 2021) but have never won the Copa Libertadores title.

Palmeiras is in Athletico Paranaense’s way of making their Copa Libertadores title dream from becoming a reality. Athletico Paranaense is in the way of Palmeiras winning the Copa Libertadores for the third straight year.

August 31.

Velez Sarsfield 0-4 Flamengo

Velez Sarsfield’s only Copa Libertadores title was on in 1994 and it looks like they won’t be getting to a final after a 4-0 defeat at home to Flamengo in the first leg.

With three of the four semifinalists coming from Brazil, Velez Sarsfield had the responsibility of carrying the Argentine pride in the semifinals.

Flamengo had to settle for silver and watch Palmeiras pick up the gold in last season’s final. They are now a 4-goal advantage and a game (at home) away from getting back to the Copa Libertadores final.

NOW WE WAIT FOR THE RETURN LEGS.

September 6.
Palmeiras vs Athletico Paranaense

September 7.
Flamengo vs Velez Sarsfield
