England returned to the Euro final after losing in the last edition (against Italy), seeking their first-ever European Championship title and their first major silverware since the 1966 World Cup. This time, they faced Spain.
Spain shared the record for most European Championship title wins with Germany (3) and were looking to pull ahead and stand alone with that record.
After a goalless first half, Spain opened the scoring within a minute after the restart, with Nico Williams converting a pass from Lamine Yamal into a goal in the 47th minute. Cole Palmer scored the equalizing goal for England in the 73rd minute after entering the game three minutes earlier as a substitute for Kobbie Mainoo.
It looked as if England was about to do what they’ve done for most parts of this tournament, sneaking out a win, but Spain proved to be just as consistent with their performances over the tournament by restoring their lead to finish the game. Mikel Oyarzabal, who had come in for Alvaro Morata in the 68th minute, scored the winning goal for Spain in the 86th minute.
Spain is the only nation to win the title consecutively, in 2008 and 2012. They’ve now played in five Euro finals and have only lost once (1984). The four titles pulls them to the top of the list as the most successful nation in European championship history.

Regulation time was exhausted, so extra time was needed to find the 2024 Copa America winner between Argentina and Colombia.
Lionel Messi couldn’t finish the game. He was substituted out of the match in the 66th minute due to an injury he had sustained in the dying minutes of the first half. Despite Messi being sidelined, Argentina went on to defend the Copa America title against Colombia, winning 1-0.
The game-winning goal came in the 112th minute. Giovani Lo Celso sent Lautaro Martínez through on goal with a pass, which was converted into the only goal of the final. The goal was Lautaro Martínez’s fifth of the tournament, earning him the top scorer award. Lo Celso and Martinez both entered the match in the extra time (97th minute).
Argentina shared the record for most titles in the competition with Uruguay (15). Now, they have their 16th title, setting a new record on their own. This was Colombia’s third Copa America final, and their first since winning the title in 2001 as hosts. Colombia came close, but Argentina had the Midas touch.
