CONMEBOL World Cup qualifiers – Brazil waits for the rest of South America.

Posted on

A qualified Brazil side must maintain their standards and win the remaining two matches in the CONMEBOL qualifiers. Brazil has clinch top spot in the qualifiers, but winning football matches is something Brazilians are expected to do.

Uruguay will be playing two eliminated teams (Venezuela and Uruguay), a perfect thing for a team that will secure a place in the 2018 FIFA World Cup with a victory.

Brazil might have a say in Chile’s World Cup destiny when they play against each other in the final match of the qualifiers. Chile will need a victory against an Ecuador side that will also be looking to get a victory that will cancel out the three-point gap between themselves and Chile. This is an important match for the two sides to at the very least finish the qualifiers in the inter-confederation playoff spot.

Colombia will use a victory over Paraguay before they go into their final match against Peru, while Paraguay would put themselves in a good position if they can steal a very important win against Colombia and use home support to beat an eliminated Venezuela on the final day.

Argentina has their destiny in their hands. Argentina will need to do it without an injured Sergio Aguero.  The objective for the Argentines is to win their final two matches, Peru at home and away to Ecuador. Recent form makes it hard to tell what we will see from Argentina.
