CLUB PERFORMANCE INDEX RANKING

Club Form and League Standings Across Europe: Top Seven Leagues.

Posted on

It’s no surprise to see most of Europe’s reigning domestic champions holding strong positions — Bayern Munich leading the way, with Barcelona (2nd), Paris Saint-Germain (4th), and PSV Eindhoven (9th) continuing to represent with pride. Liverpool (15th) and Sporting CP (17th) remain in respectable positions but have room to improve as both sit outside the top 10. Napoli (27th) narrowly make it into the top 30.

The top 10 features one club each from the German Bundesliga, Italian Serie A, and the Dutch Eredivisie, two from both the English Premier League and French Ligue 1, and three from Spanish La Liga — with no Portuguese Primeira Liga side breaking in this time.

Bayern Munich stay at the summit of the overall rankings among clubs in Europe’s top seven leagues. Barcelona follow in second, joining Bayern as the only two teams to surpass 200 points on the Index Ranking. Inter Milan, ranked third, stand out as the highest-placed side that aren’t defending champions.

Among the recently promoted clubs, Sunderland (43rd) and Köln (49th) break into the top 50, while Tondela (131st) sit at the bottom of that group. If not for AVS Futebol SAD (132nd), Tondela would occupy the final spot in the overall standings.

Real Madrid, PSV Eindhoven, and Porto have accumulated the most league points — 31 each in their respective domestic campaigns. Porto also boast the best points-per-game average at 2.82.
Those same three clubs — Real Madrid, PSV Eindhoven, and Porto — share the most league wins (10 each). Porto lead the way with a 0.91 win rate, having conceded the fewest goals (3) and maintaining the best defensive record at just 0.27 goals allowed per game.

Bayern Munich, Benfica, and Porto remain the only unbeaten sides across Europe’s top seven leagues. Bayern and Porto have also dropped the fewest league points — just two each.

At the other end of the spectrum, Wolverhampton Wanderers have dropped the most league points (31). Averaging only 0.18 points per game and collecting a mere two points in the Premier League, they stand alone as the poorest team at converting opportunities into results. Wolves are also among the four winless sides, alongside Hellas Verona, Fiorentina, and AVS Futebol SAD. Additionally, they join Auxerre and Heracles Almelo as the three teams with the most league defeats (9 each).

Heracles Almelo’s 33 goals conceded in the Eredivisie are the most of any club in the top seven leagues so far, giving them a concession rate of 2.75 goals per game — the worst defensive record overall.

On the attacking end, PSV Eindhoven lead the way with 40 league goals in the Eredivisie, while Bayern Munich boast the highest scoring rate, averaging 3.5 goals per game. At the opposite end, Hellas Verona and Tondela have scored just 6 goals in their respective leagues — the fewest of any clubs — averaging only 0.55 goals per game.

THE DOMESTIC LEAGUE RUN

Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain, and PSV Eindhoven are each leading their respective leagues as they push to retain their crowns and reaffirm their dominance. In contrast, Barcelona, Liverpool, Sporting CP, and Napoli have all relinquished the top spot for now — with Real Madrid, Arsenal, Porto, and Inter Milan currently setting the pace in their leagues.

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 Arsenal sit at the top of the Premier League table with a 4-point lead over Manchester City, while Chelsea come in third. These are the top three clubs in the standings — and the only three to have accumulated 20 or more points so far.
Recently promoted Sunderland are just a point away from reaching the 20-point mark themselves and currently sit inside the top four.
There are five teams on 18 points — Tottenham, Aston Villa, Manchester United, and Liverpool — with Crystal Palace a point behind to complete the top half of the Premier League table.
Nottingham Forest are a point away from leaving Wolverhampton Wanderers as the only team with single-digit points in the Premier League this season. As things stand, Nottingham Forest sit in the relegation zone alongside West Ham United and Wolverhampton Wanderers. The likes of Newcastle United, Fulham, Leeds United, and Burnley are not far off from the relegation zone.
