Copa America Centenario Final.
Argentina – Chile
Dejavu!
Chile retains their title as Copa America champions.
A replay of the 2015 Copa America Final, and this time around, none of the teams involved is the host nation. Chile won on penalties, and Eduardo Vargas was again the top goalscorer of the competition.
Argentina has now failed to win in 3 major tournaments after reaching the final. And on each occasion were arguably the better side.
This might be Messi’s last try at helping Argentina get a major trophy. He might have a lot of playing years in him, but defeats will take a toll on anyone.

Chile is celebrating a back to back international success. They are a team that knows how to win, and Claudio Bravo is making his mark as one of the finest goalkeepers in the world.
Arturo Vidal missed the first penalty for Chile, and Messi missed the first for Argentina. It was Lucas Biglia’s miss that cost Argentina the trophy.
At PKO.
Chile | Argentina | |
1 | Vidal (missed) | Messi (missed) |
2 | Castillo (scored) | Mascherano (scored) |
3 | Aranguiz (scored) | Aguero (scored) |
4 | Beausejour (scored) | Biglia (missed) |
5 | Silva (scored) |
Congratulations to Chile.
