UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE – Quarterfinals

There is an expectation for Manchester City and Liverpool to get the furthest, and they both made progress towards that target with a victory.

April 5
Manchester City 1-0 Atletico Madrid
Benfica 1-3 Liverpool

April 6
Chelsea 1-3 Real Madrid
Villarreal 1-0 Bayern Munich

Atletico Madrid failed in their first attempt to spoil the part for Manchester City.
Kevin De Bruyne’s goal in the 70th minute decided the game for Manchester City to go to Wanda Metropolitano with a 1-0 lead against a defensively stubborn Atletico Madrid.

Liverpool takes back to Anfield a 3-1 lead over Benfica.
Luis Diaz scored a late goal in the 87th minute to restore Liverpool’s two-goal advantage after Darwin Nunez halved it in the 49th minute. Ibrahima Karate and Sadie Mane gave Liverpool a two-goal advantage in the first half.

Chelsea has a title to defend but Real Madrid is reminding the world of who they are in this competition. Karim Benzema’s hattrick gives Real Madrid a 3-1 lead on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Villarreal brought the romance to the Champions League by taking a first-leg victory against the giants (Bayern Munich). Arnaut Danjuma’s goal got Villarreal a 1-0 lead at home against Bayern Munich.
