Niger and Djibouti were eliminated in Group A.
Mauritania was eliminated in Group B.
Liberia was eliminated in Group C.
Malawi and Mozambique were eliminated in Group D.
Kenya and Rwanda were eliminated in Group E.
Angola was eliminated in Group F.
Ethiopia and Zimbabwe were eliminated in Group G.
Senegal advanced to the final stage, eliminating Togo, Namibia, and Congo in Group H.
Morocco advanced to the final stage, eliminating Guinea-Bissau, Guinea, and Sudan from Group I.
