Joshua Kimmich 40’                      Anthony Modeste 64’

Bayern Munich dropped points for the first time in the 2016/17 Bundesliga season. It was a clash of two teams that are yet to suffer defeat in the season. As expected, Bayern was the favorite to win this match.

Joshua Kimmich game the home team a lead to take into the halftime break in the 40th minute. Most people would have expected the second half should be the extension of Bayern’s wins in the Bundesliga. Bayern rarely fails at home to deliver a win.

Koln had a plan and they stuck to it. Counter attacks worked for the team and in the 64th minute, Anthony Modeste gave Koln a point from this match with an equalizing goal. A

As much possession as Bayern created, Koln had decent chances to steal a win from the defending champions.

There is a reason why both teams are undefeated.

The winless start to Hamburger SV season continues as Hertha Berlin moves three points closer to the top the league leaders with a 2-0 home win.

Bayer Leverkusen                   2-0               Borussia Dortmund

Admir Mehmedi 10’

Javier Hernández 79’

Borussia Dortmund failed to take advantage of Bayern Munich slip up.

After Bayern failed to secure maximum points against FC Koln, it was a great day for Borussia Dortmund to close the gap and put pressure on Bayern Munich’s bid to defend the Bundesliga title.

Borussia Dortmund suffered their second loss of the season after a 2-0 defeat to Bayer Leverkusen.

Dortmund had to chase the match after Admir Mehmedi scored for Bayer Leverkusen in the 10th minute. A well-organized Leverkusen made it difficult for Dortmund to have their way in the final third.

Javier Hernandez scored in the 79th minute to extend the lead for Leverkusen. It was a lead that killed the hopes of Dortmund dreams of leaving with at least a point.

Leverkusen remains undefeated at home.

It was an opportunity for Wolfsburg to get a second win in the 2016/17 Bundesliga season, but a goalless draw was the outcome when they took on Mainz 05.

Schalke 04                 4-0               Borussia Monchengladbach

Finally!

Schalke 04 new signing Breel Embolo scored a brace as they got their first win of the season in the Revierderby.

As fitting to their name, Schalke’s first point was in a 4-0 victory over Borussia Monchengladbach.

Not many would have predicted that it was going to take six matches for Schalke 04 to get any points on the Bundesliga league table.

After a goalless first half, a penalty awarded to Schalke allowed Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting to open the scoring for the match in the 52nd minute. It was a goal that opened the floodgates for the home team.

Seven minutes after Schalke took the lead, they extended it with two additional goals to kill hopes of a Monchengladbach come back.
