And the ‘Star of the Weekend’ goes to…

Posted on

Picking the outright brightest star is never easy, and sometimes blinding.

The shortlist for #SOTW included…

Mickael Le Bihan (OGC Nice) French Ligue 1 – For being the scorer of both the equalizing and winning goal for Nice to get a victory they couldn’t have afforded to go without if they want to be considered as part of the title race.

Robert Lewandowski (Bayern Munich) German Bundesliga – Scoring a hat trick against Hamburger SV and helping Bayern Munich keep their position at the top of the league table while making their ‘Goal Difference’ strong as well.

Mattia Caldara (Atalanta) Italian Serie A – Scoring a goal in each half to guide Atalanta to a victory over Napoli. A victory that closes the gap between the two sides and sees Atalanta in the top four.

Lionel Messi (Barcelona) Spanish La Liga – Getting an important late winning goal against Atletico Madrid; once again rescuing Barcelona from dropping important points.

Adam Ounas (Bordeaux) French Ligue 1 – Getting Bordeaux a victory by scoring two goals to restore their lead against Lille.

But this week’s #SOTW goes to

Alvaro Morata

(Real Madrid) Spanish La Liga

Scoring the important third goal that allowed Real Madrid to come back from two goals down in the second half to get a victory that keeps their objective of winning the league title on course.
