Domestic Leagues

Ancelotti and FC Bayern

Carlo Ancelotti’s at Bayern.

Carlo Ancelotti comes into Bayern Munich a winner, and Bayern Munich comes to Ancelotti a winner. What happens when two winners meet? The expectations are that they will double their wins. But in football, anything is possible.

Ancelotti replaces Pep Guardiola, and just like Guardiola, he has had experience managing top teams. Taking on the job as the manager for one of the biggest clubs in the world, and no doubt the biggest club in Germany should be nothing new to the Italian.

He started his managerial work in Italy. He finished his time in Italy by taking charge of the two most successful teams in Italy, Juventus and Milan. He won the Serie A title with Milan in 2004 after he had won the UEFA Champions League a year before in 2003 with the team.

He was back in the final in 2005 but failed to win the title after losing a penalty shoot-out against Liverpool. He got his revenge on Liverpool two years later and won his second UCL title in 2007.

His two seasons in the Premier League was with Chelsea, where he came out with a league title. He became the only manager apart from Jose Mourinho to win the league title with Abramovich’s Chelsea.  Two seasons with Paris Saint-Germain saw him leave French Ligue 1 with the domestic title. Another two seasons with Real Madrid and he won the elusive tenth Champions League for Real Madrid. It was his third champions league title as a manager, a record on its own. He couldn’t get the domestic title with Madrid, Atletico Madrid and FC Barcelona denied him that.

Previous teams managed

Reggiana (1995-1996)

Parma (1996- 1998)

Juventus (1999-2001)

Milan (2001-2009)

Chelsea (2009-2011)

Paris Saint-Germain (2011-2013)

Real Madrid (2013-2015)

His record tells us that he wins with teams with quality. He can manage the egos that come with the talents.

When his teams needed domestic titles, he delivered them one. When they needed to be continental champions, he took them there. And this is what would be exciting fans of Bayern.

Ancelotti’s records in the UEFA Champions League will excite fans of Bayern Munich. Had history been fair to them, a team like Bayern would have had a few more titles in the competition than the 5 they currently hold.
