All the teams involved in the title race dropped points. – the French Ligue 1 after Round 29


All the teams in the ‘top 4’ dropped points, with Paris St. Germain being the only one to actually lose their game.
It started with Lyon failing to open the round with a win at Reims; had to settle for a point in a 1-1 draw.
Lille and Monaco went against each other and the both did enough not to leave the match empty-handed. It ended goalless between the two.
Paris St. Germain had the best opportunity out of every other team in the top four. Aside from being the favorites, they faced a team in relegation (Nantes). Against all odds, Nantes found a 2-1 win in Paris against Paris St. Germain.

All the dropping of points in the top 4 allowed Marseille to use a win against Brest to get 9 points from them.

Dijon were the only team in the bottom end of the standings to lose their game. They remain bottom of the standings at 11 points from their closest neighbor on the league table.

Lyon avoided defeat at Reims but didn’t get enough out of the game to make a big mark in the title race. Tino Kadewere scored in the final additional minutes of the match for Lyon to get the goal to cancel out the lead Mathieu Cafaro had given Reims in the 33rd minute.

Wahbi Khazri’s goal got Saint-Etienne a win at Angers. First win for Saint-Etienne in four games.

The winning goals came in the final minutes for Marseille to make it a consecutive league win with a 3-1 win against a Brest side that was looking to take a point away.

Nimes and Montpellier shared the points in an even contest.

Ui-Jo Hwang’s two goals in the opening half helped Bordeaux to a 3-1 at Dijon.

Three points remained between Lens and Metz after a 2-2 draw.

Julian Draxler opened the scoring in the 42nd minute to get Paris St. Germain went into the break with a lead on Nantes. At his point, things were going as expected and not many would have predicted what was to happen in the second half. Randal Kolo Muani scored Nantes equalizing goal and assisted Moses Simon in the winning goal. Relegation-zoned Nantes came from a goal down to win in Paris.
