About a quarter into the 2016/17 German Bundesliga season

Posted on

After ten rounds of the 2016/17 German Bundesliga season, Bayern Munich is doing a decent job in defending their title.

Inside the Six

The top three teams in the 2016/17 Bundesliga season remains undefeated after 10 matches. The remaining three have all suffered two defeats each.

Second-place RB Leipzig is the most in-form side amongst the top six. Leipzig has won all of their last five league matches.

RB Leipzig is the team that out of place in the top six, but we that won’t be fair to say about a team that has over performed on all fronts. Very few people would have genuinely believed that a newly-promoted team would be this high in the league standings after ten rounds. RB Leipzig is doing just that.

BayernMunich’s Robert Lewandowski against Werder Bremen. First match of the Bundesliga season. Bayern Munich 6-0 Werder Bremen

Inside the Eighteen

It might be too soon to tell who is going to get relegated, but being winless after ten matches in the Bundesliga makes Hamburger SV and Ingolstadt favorites to go down .It would be a miracle to see them get another chance at the Bundesliga in the next season.

Third round match between Borussia Dortmund and Darmstadt. Match finished Dortmund 6-0 Darmstadt

How are the newly promoted teams adjusting

Newly promoted RB Leipzig is doing the most unexpected thing in the top-flight. After ten undefeated matches, the only thing stopping Leipzig from topping the league table failure to score more goals than Bayern Munich.

Freiburg is the other newly promoted side that is performing well in the top-flight. So far, Freiburg is either picking up the maximum point from their matches or leaving with no points at all. They’ve won half of the first 10 matches and lost the other half. It is no surprise that Freiburg is sitting right in the middle of the league standings.

Who might be in for a thrilling season?

Schalke started the season by losing 5 consecutive matches in the Bundesliga. The following 5 matches have been without defeats, winning three and two draws.

There is potential for Schalke 04 to finish the season in a way that would make us forget about the start they had.
