Sevilla and Roma play in the Europa League final on May 31, 2023. Sevilla are the most successful team in the competition’s history, while Roma are looking for their second continental title in two years. It’s sure to be a close and exciting match.

Sevilla is in 11th place in La Liga after 37 games, while Roma is in 6th place in Serie A after 37 games. Neither team can qualify for the Champions League through the league table. Roma will at least qualify for the Conference League through the league, if not the Europa League. This is Sevilla’s last chance to compete in a continental cup competition next season.

Sevilla finished third in their UEFA Champions League group behind Manchester City and Borussia Dortmund, and were eliminated. They then beat PSV Eindhoven in the knockout playoffs to reach the Europa League Round of 16. They went on to beat Fenerbahce, Manchester United, and Juventus in the Round of 16, quarterfinals, and semifinals, respectively. Sevilla is the most successful club in Europa League history, and are chasing a record seventh title. They have previously won the competition in 2006, 2007, 2014, 2015, 2016, and 2020.

Roma finished second in their Europa League group, behind Real Betis. They then beat RB Salzburg, Real Sociedad, Feyenoord, and Leverkusen to reach the final. Roma last won this competition in 1991, but they qualified for the Europa League as winners of the Europa Conference League. A win in this final will give Roma back-to-back continental titles.
