2021 CONCACAF GOLD CUP FINAL. USA IS THE CONTINENTAL CHAMPIONS FOR THE 7TH TIME!!

UNITED STATES ARE CONCACAF KINGS after winning their 7th Gold Cup.

Miles Robinson headed in the winning goal of the match in the 117th minute to get the United States a Gold Cup final victory against Mexico. This USA’s first GOLD Cup final win against Mexico since 2007. Robinson’s goal was the only goal of the match.

It is always difficult to deal with defeat in a cup final. It is even more difficult when it is against an archrival playing their second-string team.

For the United States it’s two finals won in one summer and an opportunity to use the morale to build a team that will dominate the confederation.

For Mexico, two finals lost in one summer could mean there is only one direction to go; to progress. Losing the CONCACAF Nations League and now the Gold Cup will likely be the cause for some changes to be made on Mexico’s end.

Since 2013, the Gold Cup trophy has been tossed back and forth between the USA and Mexico. The years before that were consecutive wins for Mexico and another for the United States.

This tournament’s top scorer was Qataris Almoez Ali with 4 goals. The ‘Best Player’ was given to Mexico’s Hector Herrera. The ‘Best Young Player’ was Canada’s Tajon Buchanan, and the ‘Best Goalkeeper’ was Matt Turner [USA].
