Group G – England vs Panama

Date – June 24, 2018

Venue – Nizhny Novgorod

Goal scorers – (England) – John Stones 8’ 40’, Harry Kane 22’(pen) 45+1’(pen) 62’, Jesse Lingard 36’

Goal scorers – (Panama) – Felipe Baloy 78’

Harry Kane contributed his kind of hat-trick to guide England to the ‘Round of 16’ through a ‘6-1’ victory that eliminated Panama from their first World Cup.  It will be up to England and Belgium to decide in their final match the order in which the top two in Group G will be set up for the knockout stage.

 

Group H – Japan vs Senegal

Date – June 24, 2018

Venue – Ekaterinburg Arena

Goal Scorers – (Japan) Takashi Inui 34’ Keisuke Honda 78’

Goal scorers – (Senegal) Sadio Mane 11’, Moussa Wague 71’

 

Senegal and Japan remain undefeated in Group H.

Senegal had to settle for a point with Japan after failing to keep the lead on two occasions. Japan will meet an eliminated Poland side in the final group game, while Senegal will have to go against a Colombian side that can’t afford a defeat.  

 

Group H – Poland vs Colombia

Date – June 24, 2018

Venue – Kazan Arena

Goal scorers – (Colombia) Yerry Mina 40’, Radamel Falcao 70’, Juan Cuadrado 75’

Poland became the first European side to be eliminated.
In a ‘do-or-die’ affair between the pre-tournament favorites in Group H, Colombia convincingly eliminated Poland from the World Cup. Both sides were aware that a defeat was not an option if they wanted to remain in the competition.
