Juventus opened an 8-point lead at the top of Serie A after a 2-0 home victory over SPAL was matched with Napoli being held at home to a goalless draw by bottom-table Cheivo Verona. The point gained against Napoli marked the first point on the league standings for Cheivo Verona after 13 matches played.

Newly-promoted Parma climbed over Roma in the league standings with a ’1-0; win.

Matias Silvestre late goal helped Empoli to get out of the relegation-zone after recovering from two goals down to beat Atalanta.

Joaquin Correa scored late to keep Lazio in the top for and deny AC Milan access. Krzysztof Piatek scored from the penalty spot to move to the top of the goalscoring list while getting Genoa a point against Sampdoria.
