2017/18 UEFA Champions League – Round 5(Day Two)

Chelsea and Barcelona are in the ‘Round of 16’.

Basel scored late to deny Manchester United from getting the point that would have allowed them to clinch qualification into the Round of 16 and winning Group A. In the other match, a goal in each half was how CSKA Moscow took all points from eliminated Benfica.

In Group B, Paris Saint-Germain made up for conceding their first goal in the 2017/18 UEFA Champions League by unleashing 7-goals onto Celtic. The result meant PSG has now outscored their group mates by 24 to 1. Bayern Munich kept Anderlecht pointless with a 2-1 victory.

Atletico Madrid did what was needed to get life back into their Champions League ambitions by beating Roma in Group C. The task at hand is for Atletico Madrid to get a victory in the final group match away against a Chelsea side that clinched promotion clinched from the group. Roma will be taking on an eliminated Qarabag side in the final match. The expectation is that Roma will win this match.

Juventus played out a goalless draw against Barcelona. The point was enough to get Barcelona promotion out of Group D. Sporting CP boosted their chance of promotion in Group D by beating Olympiacos. The final match for Sporting CP is away at Barcelona, not the best draw a Sporting fan.
