Messi’s goal was his 20th league goal of the season, top-scorer in the league with his striking partner Luis Suarez 4 goals behind.
3 goals in the second-half allowed Atletico Madrid to keep the gap between themselves and the top of the league at 11-points through a victory over relegation-zoned Las Palmas.
Espanyol’s Mario Hermoso was instrumental in his team’s defeat against Leganes. Hermoso finished the match with three goals to his name. Unfortunately, he the bigger portion of those goals was against his own team.
The two other teams (Deportivo La Coruna and Malaga) in the relegation-zone were involved in a draw.
