The 2017/18 La Liga season and FC Barcelona winning ways resumed in the 18th round. Lionel Messi opened the scoring in FC Barcelona to take a 3-0 victory over Levante and get stay on top of the league standings. Messi’s goal keeps him on top of the scoring list with 16 goals.

Diego Costa scored the ‘insurance’ goal for Atletico Madrid to keep the 9-point gap between themselves and the top spot in the league standings. Costa’s earlier foul in the second-half and his goal celebration cost him some playing time after getting sent off for a second yellow.
