2017/18 Italian Serie A – Round 23 – Barcelona remains undefeated despite dropping points.

Real Sociedad tore apart relegation-zoned Deportivo La Coruna to kick-start the 21st round of the 2017/18 Spanish La Liga. The ‘5-0’ victory gave Real Sociedad some ‘cushion’ from the drop-zone.

Eibar pulled a point away from Sevilla in the league standings by hammering them 5 goals.

Villarreal 3-match winning streak in the league came to an end in a ‘2-1’ defeat to Real Betis. The result also brought an end to a losing streak for Betis.

Two early goals allowed Alaves to take all three points at home against Celta Vigo. It was Alaves’s first victory in three league matches and Celta Vigo’s first defeat in three league matches.

Recently-promoted Levante came from a goal down on two occasions to take a point at home against Real Madrid. Despite have a game in hand, results like this chips away any advantage that brings.

Cristian Stuani scored two for recently-promoted Girona to beat Athletic Club and open a four-point gap between the two teams.

Gerard Pique’s header secured a point for Barcelona in the Catalan derby against Espanyol. The ‘1-1’ score meant Barcelona goes into the 23rd round with an unbeaten streak in the league.

Atletico Madrid took advantage of the points dropped by Barcelona by winning at home against Valencia. The victory reduced the point-gap in the title race to 9 points. Angel Correa’s scorching strike provided the only goal of the match.

In the final match of the round, Malaga remained at the bottom of the league table after conceding a late goal to lose their match with Las Palmas.
