Weekend football in European T-7 leagues:


There are a few more rounds left of the season for titles to be decided and relegation to be confirmed. The title race concluded in the German Bundesliga, while the winner of the Dutch Eredivisie is nearly confirmed. There is a clear favorite in the French Ligue 1 and the Italian Serie A title race, and a similar situation is unfolding in the Portuguese Primeira Liga. The Premier League title race has become even more intriguing.

Nottingham Forest (2) – (2) Wolverhampton Wanderers: Matheus Cunho scored two goals for Wolves, securing a point in a 2-2 draw with Nottingham Forest.

Bournemouth (2) – (2) Manchester United: Bruno Fernandes scored twice for Manchester United, earning them a point in a 2-2 draw with Bournemouth.

Liverpool (0) – (1) Crystal Palace: Liverpool suffered a 0-1 defeat at home to Crystal Palace, following a midweek Europa League loss to Atalanta. This defeat was unexpected and added to Liverpool’s disappointment.

The only positional change in the league standings was Freiburg moving up to 8th position with their win against bottom-tabled Darmstadt, while Hoffenheim dropped to 9th, losing to relegation-threatened Mainz.

Lyon (4) – (3) Brest: Brest, one of the teams contributing to keeping the competition alive in the Ligue 1 title race, failed to pick up a win on a weekend where Paris Saint-German was not playing.
Brest scored three goals in a span of 7 minutes to come from a goal down in the first half, taking a 3-1 lead by the 67th minute. Lyon then mounted a recovery, netting two goals to draw level before the 80th minute before restoring their lead through a penalty deep into added time (90+16′) to secure the victory. Ainsley Maitland-Niles converted the winning penalty for Lyon.

Ajax (2) – (1) Twente: Ajax recovered from the crushing ‘6-0’ defeat they suffered against Feyenoord in the last round by coming from a goal down in the first half to beat FC Twente 2-1. Steven Bergwjin scored the winning goal from a penalty in the 81st minute.
