Ecuador is getting closer to clinching a place in the 2022 World Cup.
Brazil and Argentina have taken half of the direct qualification spots.
Uruguay is making a late charge for the direct qualification but Peru is staying close.
It is looking like Colombia will miss out on the 2022 World Cup. They have to win their remaining matches to stand a chance.
Chile is hovering around the qualification spot.
Paraguay and Venezuela are out. Bolivia is virtually out.
URUGUAY
Uruguay had been without a win in their last 5 qualifiers matches before this international break. It was a winless streak that included 4 successive defeats.
Uruguay won both of their qualifiers over the international break, but there results against Paraguay and Venezuela (two sides that are already eliminated)
Next up for Uruguay is a fixture against Peru (March 24, 2022).
Uruguay must make hope advantage count when they host Peru. The reverse match ended in a 1-1 draw.
Uruguay’s final match is against Chile. They will be counting on Brazil to do them a favor before they meet Chile for the final match of their COMEBOL qualifiers.
COLOMBIA
Colombia can’t afford any other result but a victory in their final two rounds of matches..
Luckily for Colombia, their remaining matches are at home to Bolivia, and away against Venezuela.
On paper, these are matches that Colombia should win to have a slim chance of at least making it to the inter-confederation play-offs.
CHILE
A win is required for Chile to qualify for at least the inter-confederation playoffs.
Chile has to go to Brazil and then host Uruguay for their final two games of the CONMEBOL qualifiers.
Chile will have to be at their best to pass these tests.
ECUADOR
A point against Brazil was a massive boost for Ecuador’s chances of qualifying.
They play Paraguay next for the points that will likely qualify them for the 2022 World Cup.
With their final match coming against Argentina, Ecuador will want to get the job done when they face Paraguay.

The traditional giants (USA and Mexico) are bound to qualify but it is looking like Canada will qualify at the top of the table.
