UEFA Champions League: Group Stage is completed.

 

UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE

Napoli suffered their first defeat of the tournament in their final group game but they win ‘Group A’ but on level points with Liverpool.
Ajax confirmed the Europa League spot by beating Rangers.
Rangers bow out with a perfect losing record in Group A.

Porto won ‘Group B’ by a point.
Leverkusen took the Europa League ticket at the expense of Atletico Madrid.

Bayern Munich won ‘Group C’ with a 100% win record.
Bayern Munich is the only reason Inter Milan didn’t stay unbeaten in ‘Group C’.
Vitoria Plzen bowed out with a perfect losing record at the bottom of ‘Group C’.

Group D was open for all the teams to qualify for the knockout stage.
Both Tottenham and Frankfurt got a 2-1 away win to advance from Group D.
Sporting CP needed to avoid defeat to advance from Group D but was beaten at home by Eintracht Frankfurt.
Marseille lose their lead and suffer a late defeat at home to get kicked out of the continental football competition.

AC Milan beat Salzburg to the final ticket to the ‘Round of 16’ from Group E, while Chelsea made up for their defeat against Zagreb in the opening round. The last time AC Milan reached the Round of 16 was in 2014.

RB Leipzig tagged along with Real Madrid with a win against Shakhtar Donetsk.
Real Madrid used a comfortable win against Celtic to confirm their place in the winners of Group F.

Manchester City came from a goal down to avoid defeat at home against Sevilla, while Copenhagen held Dortmund to a draw.

Benfica made up a (+5) goal difference to win Group H.
They advance to the ‘Round of 16’ with a PSG on an identical record.

Bayern Munich was the only unbeaten team (of the 4) to have a 100% winning record.
Benfica, Manchester City, and Paris St. Germain complete the list of unbeaten teams in the group stage.

Viktoria Plzeň and Rangers suffered defeat in all the matches played. The two clubs are part of the 4 teams that did not register a win in the group stage.
Celtic and Copenhagen complete the list of teams without a win.

Juventus and Maccabi Haifa would not have had a group stage win if it was for the result against each other.
