UCL quaterfinal (first-leg): AC Milan, Inter Milan, Manchester City, and Real Madrid are in position to move on to the semifinal.

AFTER THE FIRST-LEG OF THE 2022/23 UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE quarterfinals:

Real Madrid did the expected against Chelsea.
Despite what the league table says in Italy, AC Milan came out on top against Napoli.
Inter Milan won in Benfica, while Manchester City virtually ended the tie against Bayern Munich.
The second leg is in a week.

April 11.

Benfica [0-2] Inter Milan

Manchester City [3-0] Bayern Munich

A defensively sound Inter Milan left Lisbon with a 2-0 lead on Benfica. Nicolo Barella scored the winning goal in the 51st minute, and second-half substitute Romelu Lukaku scored from the penalty spot in the 82nd minute to insure the victory for the night.

In the most anticipated fixture of the round, Manchester City placed one foot in the semifinal after a 3-0 win over Bayern Munich. Bernardo Silva and Erling Haaland added two second-half goals to the lead Rodri had given Manchester City from a curling strike in the 27th minute.

April 12.

AC Milan [1-0] Napoli

Real Madrid [2-0] Chelsea

Ismael Bennacer scored the only goal of the game to give AC Milan a 1-0 advantage to take to Naples for the second-leg. AC Milan were 4-0 winners on their most recent visit to Naples. And as it has been on many occasions this season, Mike Maignan’s goalkeeping heroics came in handy for Milan.

Karim Benzema opened the scoring in the 21st minute to get Real Madrid on to a 2-0 win over a Chelsea side that had to play the final 30+ minutes with a numerical disadvantage when Ben Chilwell was sent off on a red card in the 59th minute. Marco Asensio entered the match in the 71st minute and scored three minutes later to double Real Madrid’s lead. Vinicius Junior assisted both Real Madrid’s goals.
