| A more clinical Leicester City thrashed Watford to advance.
| League 1 side Cambridge United knocked out Premier League side Newcastle United.
| Cambridge United is currently 16th in League 1, while Newcastle is a point from the bare bottom of the Premier League table.
| Championship side Huddersfield Town knocked out Burnley.
| Brighton needed extra time to beat Brighton
| Queen Park Rangers won on penalties against Rotterdam United.
| Fourth-tier Hartlepool United knocked out second-tier Blackpool.
| The lowest-ranked team: Kidderminster Harriers [6th tier] knocked out Reading by coming from a goal down to win 2-1.
| Nottingham Forest knocked out the most successful club in the competition.
| Tottenham avoided humiliation at home to Morecambe.
| Surprisingly, Norwich City won.
| Scott Mctominay’s goal won it to send Manchester United through at Aston Villa’s expense.
