There were a few upsets in the opening round for the 2022/23 Premier League season but the defending champions started off with a win.

Gabriel Martinelli scored the first goal of the 2022/23 English Premier League season. It was also the match-winning goal for Arsenal to pick up three points from Selhurst Park in a 2-0 win against Crystal Palace.

Aleksandar Mitrovic delivered the goals for Fulham.
Newly promoted Fulham was close to collecting all three points in their season opener against a Liverpool side that is deemed as one of the prime season title contenders.
Darwin Nunez came off the bench in the 51st minute and played a major role in both of Liverpool’s goals.
Liverpool needed to come back from a goal down on two occasions to avoid a humiliating defeat to a promoted club.

Newly-promoted Bournemouth kicked off the season with a 2-0 win against Aston Villa.
Leeds United came from a goal down to start their season with a 2-1 home victory against Wolves.

Fabian Schär opened the scoring with a screamer, as Newcastle United kicked off the season with a 2-0 win against newly promoted Nottingham Forest.

Tottenham came from • goal down to win 4- 1 in their opening match of the season.
Jorginho converted a late first-half penalty into the goal that handed Chelsea a narrow 1-0 win at Goodison Park.
Leicester City blew a 2- goal lead at home to settle for a point against Brentford.
Brighton kicked off their season with a 2-1 win at Old Trafford.
Erling Haaland’s brace got Manchester City to a win in London to start their title defense season.
