Southampton will go to the international break in a Champions League qualifying position.
Draw against Manchester City dropped Liverpool to 3rd while keeping Manchester City at the middle of the table.

Chelsea climbed to 5th.
Arsenal are knocked out of the top half of the league standings to 11th.

The three teams in the relegation zone from the previous round remained; but Burnley picked up a point to leave Sheffield United at the bottom of the standings with a point. All three teams are without a win since the start of the season.

  • Brighton and Burnley shared the points in a goalless draw. Leaving Burnley winless after 7 matches played.
  • After kicking off the season with 2 defeats, Southampton have now gone 6 games unbeaten; 5 wins and a draw. A goal in the first 10 minutes and in the last 10 minutes of the regulation time saw Southampton beat Newcastle and make it a third successive league victory.
  • Despite being first to get on the scoresheet, Everton ended up suffering their third league defeat in a row after a 3-1 score against Manchester United. Before assisting Edinson Cavani to his first Manchester United goal to end the match, Bruno Fernandes scored the equalizing goal and the winning goal for Manchester United to secure the three points before the break.

 

  • A 4-1 defeat against Crystal Palace meant Leeds have lost 3 of their last 4 matches, and have been at the wrong end of 4-1 score in back-to-back league games. On the other end, Crystal Palace’s wins from their 6 matches have been against the newly-promoted teams (Fulham and Leeds).
  • Chelsea came from a goal down to thrash Sheffield United by 3-goals. If finished a 4-1 win for Chelsea; leaving Sheffeild united without a win in 8 league matches.
  • After picking up their first win of the season in the last round, Fulham suffered a heart-breaking defeat after Ademola Lookman missed a penalty in the final minute of play to allow West Ham access to all three points. After 90 goalless minutes, Tomas Soucek gave West Ham the advantage when he scored the opening goal of the match in the first minute of additional time.

 

  • Harry Kane headed Tottenham into the lead in the 88th-minute. The goal was all that Tottenham needed to pick up 3 points from West Brom.
  • Jamie Vardy converted the first of his two first half penalties into a goal. The goal allowed Leicester to make it 6 wins in all competition; and got three points against Wolves. First defeat for Wolves in their last 5 league games.
  • Manchester City and Liverpool shared the points in an evenly contested fixture. Kevin De Bruyne missed a penalty that would have allowed Manchester City to cut Liverpool’s lead in the standings to a 2-point gap.
  • Ollie Watkins scored a second-half brace to see Aston Villa finish as 3-0 winners against Arsenal. An end to a consecutive league defeat for Aston Villa and a consecutive home defeat in the league for Arsenal.

 

PSG WIDENED THEIR LEAD AT THE TOP OF THE FRECH LIGUE1 STANDINGS. 

 

After 10 rounds of the season, it’s getting easier to predict the winner.
Judging from recent history, a stretch in PSG’s lead is an indication of the beginning of a one horse race.


Marseille, Lyon, and Monaco are inching closer to joining the mix of the challengers for continental football competition in the coming season.

  • Possibly against the run of play but Morgan Sanson scored the only goal of the match to hand Marseille a victory at Strasbourg.
  • A 2-0 away win against Bordeaux allowed Montpellier made it a consecutive victory after 4 matches without a win. On the other hand, it was a consecutive league defeat for Bordeaux.
  • Before scoring two additional goals to see Paris St. Germain pick up their 8th straight win in the league, Angel Di Maria assisted Moise Kean with the opening goal of the match against Rennes.

 

  • Three successive games without a win for Lille. Barak Yilmaz scored two goals to cut the deficit, but it wasn’t enough to stop Lille from suffering their first defeat of the Ligue 1 season in a 3-2 loss at Brest.
  • It was a goal-fest when Lens and Reims met. Not what would have been expected after a 1-0 score at the break. 8 goals were scored and shared evenly. An own goal on both sides. Florian Sotoca scored 2 goals a minute apart in the 90th-minute for Lens to complete a comeback and pick up a point at home.

 

  • Two goals in the final 10 minutes of regulation time handed Nantes a 2-0 win at Lorient.
  • Bottom table Dijon remained without a win but shared the points in a 1-1 draw at Metz. Both teams scored their goal in the opening half and missed a penalty in it as well.
  • Angers bounced back from the 3-0 defeat at home against Nice with a 5-1 away thrashing of Nimes.
  • Nimes went from their 3-0 win away at Angers to a 1-2 home defeat against Monaco.
  • Timo Kadewere scored two goals to get Lyon from a losing position to win against Saint-Etienne. The 2-1 score meant Saint-Etienne have now gone 7 league matches without a win; that includes 6 successive defeats.

 

 


BAYERN ARE TOP OF THE TABLE AFTER A ‘DER KLASSIKER’ VICTORY.

 

Bayern are where they are expected to be, top of the league table after round 7.

FC Koln, Schalke, and Mainz remain winless in the league, despite FC Koln and Schalke picking up a point this round.

The occupants of the Champions League qualifying spots in the league standings remain as it was at the end of the previous round. Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig just swapped positions.

Robert Lewandowski scored his 11th goal – 4 more goals than any other player in the league.

  • Leonardo Bittencourt scored from the penalty spot in the 82n-minute for Werder Bremen to cancel out FC Koln’s lead that was gotten through an own goal.
  • Hertha Berlin were 3-0 winners at Augsburg. It was the first win for Hertha since the opening round of the season.
  • Defeat was avoided through a late own goal, but Schalke couldn’t avoid extending their winless streak in the league to 23 games. If finished 2-2 at Mainz. Next chance for Schalke will be at home to Wolfsburg.

 

  • RB Leipzig bounced from defeat against Monchengladbach with a 3-0 win against Freiburg.
  • 5 players were on the score sheet for Union Berlin against Arminia Bielefeld. Five straight defeats for recently-promoted Arminia Beilefeld
  • Eintracht Frankfurt canceled out a 2-goal deficit in the second half to level with Stuttgart and pick up a point. ‘
  • A consecutive 3-2 Der Klassiker win for Bayern Munich as they came out on top against Borussia Dortmund for the fourth straight meeting. Leroy Sane’s goal in the 80th-minute ended up as the winning goal for Bayern Munich to make it 5 wins in a row.

 

  • Wout Weghorst missed a chance to double his scoring from the spot, but it didn’t cost Wolfsburg the win against Hoffenheim. Since their shocking win against Bayern Munich, Hoffenheim are without a win in the Bundesliga. (4L and 1D)
  • Leverkusen had to come back from a goal down on two occasions to end up on the winning side of the score in a 7 goal thriller with Monchengladbach.

 

 

 

MILAN STAYED AT TOP DESPITE POINTS DROPPED.

 

AC Milan are top of the league table with Zlatan Ibrahimovic top of the goal scoring list.

Milan’s lead at the top is cut in half, but they say unbeaten and at the top.
Sassuolo is flying high and a point away from top of the league.

Juventus dropped points and dropped to 5th.
Napoli and Roma replace Juventus and Atalanta in the top 4.

Crotone remained without a win. (The only team without a win).

  • Relegation-zone Udinese picked up a point against a Sassuolo side that have been in good form since the start of the season.
  • Cagliari found 2 second-half goals against a 10-man Sampdoria side. Sampdoria suffered their first defeat in 5 league matches after a 2-0 away defeat at Cagliari.
  • Spezia wins 3-0 in Benevento. M’Bala Nzola scored a brace to add to Tommaso Pobega’s opening goal for Spezia to beat fellow recently-promoted side.
  • It ended goalless between Parma and Fiorentina.

 

  • Lazio scored late to take a point at home against Juventus. It was quite an evenly contested fixture, a point was deserved. Cristiano Ronaldo’s lead got cancelled out in the final minute of play by a goal from Felipe Caicedo.
  • Inter Milan and Atalanta shared the points in a 1-1 draw. That was how both teams bounced back from their midweek defeat in the UEFA Champions League.
  • Henrikh Mkhitaryan scored all of Roma’s goals in their win at Genoa. Roma won 3-1 to remain unbeaten* in any competitive match since the start of the season.

 

  • Crotone are at the bottom of the table without a win in 7 matches, but they managed to get a point on the road against Torino. Both teams have had a struggling start.
  • Napoli bounced back from defeat to Sassuolo with a 1-0 win at Bologna.
  • AC Milanmissed out on the three points against Hellas Verona. A late goal in the final minute of additional time (from Zlatan Ibrahimovic) saved AC Milan from their first league defeat and kept them top of the standings.

 

 

REAL SOCIEDAD KEEP THE TOP SPOT.

  • Santi Mina scored the equalizing goal for Celta Vigo to go into the half time break on even terms with Elche. Despite the attempts, Celta Vigo left with a point from a 1-1 draw with recently-promoted Elche.
  • Huesca and Eibar shared the points in a ‘1-1’ draw.
  • Lionel Messi came into the game in the second-half and lead Barcelona to a 5-2 win against Real Betis. A first win in the league for Barcelona in 5 league games.

 

  • Lucas Ocampos converted from the spot in the 59th-minute to get Sevilla the three points against Osasuna through a 1-0 win.
  • Cadiz lost the first away game of the season after a 4-0 hammering from Atletico Madrid. Two goals for Joao Felix; a goal open and another to close the scoring for the match.
  • Villarreal are unbeaten in all competitions since their defeat against Barcelona. (9 games, 7 wins, 2 draws); they extended the run through a 3-1 win at Getafe.

 

  • Real Sociedad picked up the goals in the first half to win and stay top of the standings. It finished a 2-0 win against Granada.
  • A 10-man Alaves side couldn’t hold on to their early lead at Levante. It end a 1-1- draw. Three straight ‘1-1’ draw in the league for a Levante side that has gone 6 straight matches without a win in the league.
  • The first win of the season for Real Valladolid after Athletic Club somehow left on the losing end of a 2-1 score.
  • The biggest shocker of the round in Spain was Real Madrid being first to take the lead, but ending up getting hammered 4 goals at Valencia. Carlos Soler contributed a hat-trick (all from penalties) to Valencia’s 4-1 win against Real Madrid.
