Salzburg lost their lead in Rome (against Roma), Shakhtar Donetsk got a fortunate late equalizing goal to win at Rennes through the penalty kickoffs, while Monaco failed to use the backing of their home support to hold on to get a win against Leverkusen – Leverkusen won through penalty kickoffs.
The outstanding match of the round is the clash at Old Trafford – Manchester United vs Barcelona.
Manchester United came from a goal down to secure a 2-1 home win to advance at Barcelona’s expense.

Gent got even at home to take the tie into a penalty shootout – where they won 6-4 against Qarabag.
Basel made home advantage count by making up for their first-leg defeat to beat Trabzonsport on a 2-1 aggregate win.
AEK Larnaca got the only goal of the tie to knock out Dnipro.
Sheriff overcame a 1-0 defeat in the first leg with a 3-1 away win against Partizan Beograd
Lazio got the only goal of the tie to knock out CFR Cluj in Rome.
Anderlecht evened the score at home to eventually knock out Ludogorets Razgrad in a penalty shootout.
