Barcelona became the league champions with four games to spare, so they didn’t mind losing one of those four against a Real Sociedad side that is desperately searching for the points to hold on to Champions League football.

Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid have qualified for Champions League football alongside Barcelona, leaving Real Sociedad as the prime candidate for the final qualification spot.

Real Sociedad and Villarreal remain 5 points apart after both picked up 2-1 wins in their respective matches this weekend. Real Betis is officially out of contention for Champions League football after their goalless draw in the Seville derby.

Teams should aim for 41 points to avoid relegation. Valencia is almost there with 40 points, as well as Almeria and Celta Vigo, who have 39 points each. Cadiz is on 38 points.

Two of Getafe, Valladolid, and Espanyol will be relegated along with Elche.
