Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid will be looking to amend the defeat they suffered in the reverse fixture but only Real Madrid was able to achieve that objective.

 

Real Madrid made up for the 1-0 defeat in the reverse fixture by taking a 2-0 win against Getafe without goals from Karim Benzema.

 

Vedat Muriqi’s goal from the penalty spot allowed Mallorca to use a 1-0 win at home to complete a league double on Atletico Madrid and secure an important three points in their battle to avoid relegation. It was a 2-1 win for Mallorca in the reverse fixture.

 

Villarreal followed up beating Bayern Munich in the Champions League with a point to avoid defeat at home to Athletic Club.

 

Sevilla had to come from a goal down in the first half before taking the lead in the second half. A thrilling ending to the game saw Sevilla lose their lead with just about two minutes left of the regulation time. Two goals in the final added minutes allowed Sevilla to restore their lead and get them a 4-2 win against Granada to bounce back from their defeat to Barcelona in the last round.

 

LUUK DE JONG’s HEADER GETS BARCELONA THE THREE POINTS.
Levante had three penalties awarded to get three goals but it was Barcelona who found three goals to pick up three more points. Barcelona came from two goals down to win 3-2 in Levante.
Luuk de Jong entered the game in the 84th minute to replace Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and scored the winning goal in the second minute of additional time.

 

The RELEGATION BATTLES
Late goals against Sevilla denied Granada a chance to add points to their tally for their relegation fight.
Levante missed an opportunity at home to get a point from Barcelona to help their fight to avoid relegation.
Mallorca got the maximum points from Atletico Madrid to help fight relegation.
Alaves pinned at the bottom of the table after conceding in the 3rd minute of the final additional minutes to lose to Osasuna.
Cadiz’s relegation battle took another hit after losing their lead to suffer a 2-1 defeat at home to Real Betis.
