The top three clubs consist of two German teams. Bayer Leverkusen remains at the top of our Index ranking, poised to become Bundesliga champions for the first time in their history, thereby breaking Bayern Munich’s 12-season streak of winning the league title.

This turn of events will surely sting fans of Borussia Dortmund, who witnessed their club come close last season only to falter on the final day at home, dropping points in a 2-2 draw with Mainz. This allowed Bayern Munich to clinch the title with a narrow 2-1 victory in Cologne.

Bayern Munich secures the second position in the index ranking, while Real Madrid follows closely behind to claim third place, completing the podium.

Inter Milan stands as the sole Italian club in the top 10, while Paris Saint-Germain represents the only French club in this elite group. Their dominance is evident in their respective domestic title races, given the substantial lead they currently hold.

The best-performing club among the defending champions is Bayern Munich, holding 463.18 points. However, they are very unlikely to end up as Bundesliga champions this year unless Bayer Leverkusen drops the ball massively.

Paris Saint-Germain is the only one among the reigning champions poised to keep their crown at the end of the season. Barcelona, Benfica, and Manchester City are all in contention for the league title in their respective leagues, but none of them are currently at the top of the standings.

With the season PSV Eindhoven is having in the Eredivisie, there is little doubt about Feyenoord’s inability to keep the title.

Napoli can just forget about keeping the Serie A title.

The highest-ranked among the promoted clubs is Heidenheim, sitting at 70th place with 86.46 points in the index ratings. Following closely behind are Las Palmas (71st), Luton Town (72nd), and Genoa (74th).

Estrela da Amadora remains the lowest-ranked of the promoted clubs, holding the 123rd position with 29 points in the index ratings. Sheffield United (121st) isn’t far ahead with 30.57 points.

THE RESIDUE

Vitesse (132nd) remains the worst ranked team in Europe’s top seven leagues.
Among the bottom 10, three Dutch clubs are present, with Vitesse and Volendam being the two worst ranked. Salernitana stands as the sole Italian club within the bottom ten, with the other six clubs being Portuguese clubs.

PITCH REPORT CARDS
Inter Milan currently holds the record for the most league wins (24) and the most points (76) among Europe’s top seven leagues. They are steadily advancing towards the Serie A title with a comfortable lead in the title race.

There is still time for teams to reach the 100 league goals mark this season. Currently, PSV Eindhoven is the closest, sitting with 81 goals in the Dutch Eredivisie, the highest number of goals scored by any team this season in Europe’s top 7 leagues. They are 19 goals away from the mark.

Bayern Munich is trailing closely, with 78 goals in the German Bundesliga, just three goals behind PSV Eindhoven. However, despite their prolific scoring, Bayern Munich doesn’t seem likely to clinch the league title this season.

Five teams have dropped 70 or more league points this season. Two are from La Liga (Almeria and Granada), another two from the Premier League (Burnley and Sheffield United), and one from Italy (Salernitana). Almeria leads the list with 74 points dropped, just one more than Salernitana. These two teams also have the lowest points-per-game rate, standing at 0.45 and 0.48, respectively.

Burnley and Sheffield United have each suffered 20 league defeats, the highest number of defeats among the clubs in Europe’s top seven leagues. However, Sheffield United stands alone at the top when it comes to goals conceded, having conceded 74 goals.
