DECEMBER 3. 2022

Netherlands 3-1 United States
Argentina 2-1 Australia

Despite a good attempt, United States young team couldn’t overcome the experience of the Dutch team. Netherlands advanced to the quarterfinals with a 3-1 win against United States. Haji Wright scored a consolation goal for United States in the 76th minute. Memphis Depay put the Dutch a goal up in the 10th minute before Daley Blind doubled the lead right before the halftime break (45+1′). Haji Wrght’s goal in the 76th minute re-ignited the hopes of United States in the tie, but that was extinguished when Denzel Dumfries re-established the 2-goal lead for Netherlands in the 81st minute.
A deflected shot on Enzo Fernandez got Australia into the game and made for a nervy ending for Argentina, but they pulled through with great defensive blocks and last-minute saves. Lionel Messi’s goal in the first half and Julian Alvarez’s goal in the second half were good to advance Argentina to the quarter-final with a 2-1 win over Australia.


DECEMBER 4, 2022

France 3-1 Poland
England 3-0 Senegal

A goal from Olivier Giroud and two from Kylian Mbappe had France on their way to the quarterfinals after beating Poland 3-1.
England passed through Senegal to the quarterfinals after a 3-0 win, with Jordan Henderson and Harry Kane giving the English a 2-0 first-half lead.

DECEMBER 5, 2022

Japan 1-1 Croatia {Croatia win 3-1 in PKO}
Brazil 4-1 South Korea

Croatia and Japan were dragged into extra time, and eventually penalty kickoffs. Ivan Perisic’s goal in the 55th minute got Croatia level after Japan had ended the first half with a lead through Daizen Maeda’s goal in the 43rd minute. Croatia win 3-1 in the penalty kickoffs. Marko Livaja was the only Croat to miss his penalty. Takuma Asano was the only Japanese to make his penalty.
Brazil was 4 goals up in the opening 40 minutes against South Korea. They took their foot off the pedal in the second half and ended up with a 4-1 win to advance to the quarterfinal.

DECEMBER 6, 2022

Morocco 0-0 Spain {Morocco win 3-0 in PKO}
Portugal 6-1 Switzerland

Morocco vs Spain became the second match in the tournament to be decided by the penalty kickoff. After 120+ minutes of a goalless draw, Morocco used a 3-0 penalty kickoff win to knock out Spain from the tournament.
Goncalo Ramos started for Portugal in a World Cup match for the first time and scored a hattrick to help his side advance to the quarter-finals through the trashing of Switzerland by 6 goals to 1.
