At the end of the month, we will know 30 of the 32 nations who will be at the 2022 World Cup.
OFC WCQ
It will be a bold bet to make if you pick the likes of Cook Islands, Solomon Islands, Fiji, Tahiti, and Papua New Guinea to stop New Zealand from winning the OFC playoffs.
New Zealand is already qualified for the semifinal stage of the OFC qualifiers. They are the favorites to win qualification for the inter-continental playoff math with CONCACAF’s 4th place finish.
CONMEBOL WCQ
Two* more rounds left of the CONMEBOL WCQ and Brazil and Argentina have taken half of the direct qualification spots. The remaining fixtures of the CONMEBOL qualifiers will determine which nations join them.
The target is to finish in the ‘top 4’.
As things stand, Chile and Colombia wouldn’t mind finishing ‘top 5’, while Uruguay and Peru will look at ‘top 5’ as the least they can do.
Ecuador is getting closer to clinching a place in the 2022 World Cup.
Uruguay will need a late charge to hold on to the direct qualification.
Peru is staying close.
It is looking like Colombia will miss out on the 2022 World Cup.
Chile is hovering around the qualification spot but is it too late to clinch a qualification spot?
Bolivia is virtually out.
Paraguay and Venezuela are out.

UEFA WCQ
Three more slots are left to be filled.
Russia’s ban advanced Poland to the final.
Ukraine and Scotland’s fixture has been postponed.
Portugal or Italy will miss out on the tournament.
For Italy, missing out on the 2022 World will be a consecutive absence from the World Cup. That will be poor for the current continental champion and a 4x winner.
Anything can happen in a one-off game so the underdogs have nothing to lose and nothing to fear. North Macedonia and Turkey can force us to rewrite the headlines.

CAF WCQ
Cameroon failed to win the Africa Cup of Nation as the host nation, but a World Cup qualification will help heal some wounds.
A little over a month ago, Senegal won the Africa Cup of Nations at Egypt’s expense. The two nations are now going to fight for one ticket to the 2022 World Cup.
The rivalry between Ghana and Nigeria means one nation is going to have a lifetime of bragging rights.

AFC WCQ
Iran and South Korea’s qualification has left United Arab Emirates, Lebanon, and Iraq to go for a third-place finish in Group A of the AFC qualifiers in order to get another chance through the playoff round.
In Group B, Saudi Arabia, Japan, and Australia have options to directly qualify to the World Cup or have to settle for the playoff round.
The playoff match winner will then go to the continental playoff round with the 5th place from CONEMBOL.
