All the teams from the German Bundesliga and from the Spanish La Liga qualified.

Paris St. Germain were the only French Ligue 1 side to advance.
Manchester United were the only side from the English Premier League to miss out, while Inter Milan were the only Italian SerieA side to miss out.

Porto will represent the Portuguese Primeira Liga in the next round.

Atletico Madrid needed a point in Salzburg and found three to advance to the next stage from Group A.
Bayern Munich kept Lokomotiv Moscow at the bottom of Group A.

Real Madrid beat Monchengladbach to take the top spot in Group B.
Inter Milan missed out on the Round of 16 after failing to grab a win against Shakhtar. A goalless draw in Ukraine eliminated Inter Milan from continental football competition.

The teams in Group C stayed in their position after the top half won their games against the bottom half.

Atalanta grabbed three points in Amsterdam to clinch a place in the Round of 16 from ‘Group D’ while demoting Ajax to the Europa League.

Nothing was at stake for the teams in Group E; Rennes were eliminated with their best result being a draw.

Juventus wins in Camp Nou to win Group G; sending Barcelona through to the knockstage as runners-up.

RB Leipzig beat Manchester United to take the other qualification spot in Group H, while Paris St. Germain put 5 goals against an already eliminated Istanbul Basaksehir to win the group.
