Just as at the end of the previous season, Manchester City and Arsenal occupy the top two spots in the standings. Manchester City moved up to the top of the table after two rounds with a win over newly-promoted Ipswich Town, while Arsenal sits in second place after beating Aston Villa. Brighton is in third place, dropping two positions on the table despite their win over Manchester United. Liverpool dropped to 4th after a home win against Brentford. These four teams are the only ones in the Premier League with a 100% win rate after just two rounds played.

Amad Diallo scored in the 60th minute to level the score for Manchester United after Danny Welbeck had given Brighton the lead in the 32nd minute. The winning goal came in the 90+5 minute for Brighton, doubling their wins in the league while handing Manchester United their first defeat. Manchester United lost their first away game of the Premier League season.

It’s back-to-back league defeats for Crystal Palace as West Ham bounced back from their opening round defeat to Aston Villa.
Manchester City ( 4 ) – ( 1 ) Ipswich Town
The promoted club was first to get on the scoreboard, with Ipswich Town going up a goal in the 7th minute. But the reigning league champions didn’t allow for a shock result, as Manchester City were up by two goals within 10 minutes of going a goal behind. Kevin de Bruyne scored the game-winning goal, while Erling Haaland scored a hat trick in Manchester City’s 4-1 home win over Ipswich Town.
Southampton ( 0 ) – ( 1 ) Nottingham Forest
Southampton have lost both of their games. Morgan Gibbs-White scored the game’s only goal in the 70th minute to give Nottingham Forest a win over Southampton.
Tottenham Hotspur ( 4 ) – ( 0 ) Everton
After dropping points in a draw with Leicester City in the opening round, Heung-Min Son scored twice in a 4-0 win over Everton for Tottenham to get their first win of the season.
Aston Villa ( 0 ) – ( 2 ) Arsenal
Arsenal made it two wins from two. Leandro Trossard scored the opening goal of the game in the 67th minute, two minutes after coming into the match. Thomas Partey then doubled the lead for Arsenal 10 minutes later.
Wolverhampton Wanderers ( 2 ) – ( 6 ) Chelsea
Chelsea gave up their lead on two occasions in the first half. Noni Madueke scored three goals in the first 15 minutes of the second half (all assisted by Cole Palmer), taking Chelsea from a 2-2 draw at the break to a 5-2 lead in a game that finished as a 6-2 win for Chelsea, bouncing back from their opening-round defeat against Manchester City with a victory over Wolves.

Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah provided the goals for Liverpool to take three points and open their season at home with a win.
