The English Premier League after the 8th round – Arsenal and Manchester City win their derbies to stay in the lead.

There were no positional changes in the ‘top 4’ but Arsenal and Manchester City pulled further away from the chasing pack.
A North London derby win keeps Arsenal in first place.
A Manchester Derby win keeps Manchester City in second place.
Brighton picked up a point from a 3-3 draw at Anfield to remain in a ‘top 4’ position and pull a point closer to third.
Liverpool dropped a position down to 9th.
The Manchester Derby defeat dropped Manchester United a position down to 6th.
Chelsea used a late win at Crystal Palace to move two positions up to 5th.

All the teams in the league have at least a win on board after Leicester City moved from the bottom of the league table with a 4-0 thrashing of Nottingham Forest.
Nottingham Forest is bottom of the table.

West Ham used a 2-0 win against Wolves to narrowly move out of the relegation zone.

Arsenal remains top of the English Premier League by opening a 4-point gap on Tottenham through a 3-1 North London derby victory.
A North Lond win for Arsenal keeps them at the top of the Premier League standings.
They took a 1-1 draw into halftime after Harry Kane scored from a penalty kick in the 31st minute to even the score for Tottenham by canceling out Thomas Partey’s strike from outside the box in the 31st minute to open the scoring and give Arsenal the lead.
It didn’t take long after the restart for Arsenal to get back in front. Gabriel Jesus’s persistence and Hugo Lloris’s goalkeeping errors got Arsenal 2-1 up in the 49th minute. Granit Xhaka scored Arsenal’s third goal five minutes after Tottenham had been reduced to 10 men. Emerson Royal had picked up a red card from a reckless tackle in the 62nd minute.

Chelsea came from an early goal down to win with a late goal against Crystal Palace.
Connor Gallagher replaced Kai Harvetz in the 76th minute and scored a 90th-minute game-winning goal for Chelsea to leave Selhurst Park with three points from a 2-1 win against Crystal Palace.
A back-to-back league wins for Chelsea after their defeat against Southampton.

Newcastle had pretty much confirmed the three points when they took a 3-0 win into the break against Fulham. It finishes a 4-1 win for Newcastle, with two goals coming from Miguel Almiron. The result sees Newcastle move above Fulham in the league table with equal points.
While Fulham followed a league win against Nottingham Forest with a defeat, this result was also Newcastle’s first league win since the 2-0 victory at home against Nottingham Forest (August 6, 2022).

Leandro Trossard’s hattrick ended up saving Brighton a point at Anfield while denying Liverpool the maximum points. Roberto Firmino scored two goals for Liverpool but it wasn’t enough for them to get the expected outcome in Anfield against a team like Brighton.

A successive win in the league for an Everton side that had been without a win all season.
Everton quickly came from a goal down in the 49th minute with two goals before the 54th minute to follow their 1-0 home win against West Ham with a 2-1 away win against Southampton.

Back-to-back defeat for Wolves.
West Ham bounced back from their defeat at Everton with a 2-0 win at home against Wolves. The result moved West Ham a point ahead of Wolves in the league.

The first half finished with Manchester City leading 4-0, as Manchester United went on to suffer their first league defeat in 4 matches since their 4-0 defeat against Brentford.
Manchester City remains unbeaten in the league and a point from the top of the league table after opening an 8-point gap on Manchester United.
Antony and Anthony Martial scored some second-half goals to soften the heaviness of the Manchester Derby defeat for Manchester United but it was another derby defeat nonetheless. A hat-trick of goals for Erling Haaland and Phil Foden gave Manchester City a ‘6-3’ home win against Manchester United.

James Maddison scored two goals in a span of 10 minutes to help Leicester City get into the halftime break with a 3-0 lead that eventually became a 4-0 win when Patson Daka scored in the 73rd minute after replacing Jamie Vardy about 11 minutes prior.
Leicester City wins their first league game of the season.
