Manchester City’s shocking defeat against Tottenham has revived the Premier League title race.

Manchester United overcame a scare to get a victory that opened up a 4 point gap on West Ham.
The North London clubs {Arsenal and Tottenham} were winners in this round and they both have 3 games in hand to make a push for the top four. Arsenal is 4 points from the top four, while Tottenham is 7 points.

Norwich City falls to the bottom of the standings on equal points with a Burnley team that has 3 more outstanding matches in comparison.

The English Premier League this weekend is the reverse fixture of the opening round of the season.

Newcastle United got a point against West Ham this time around.
Arsenal, Brighton, Southampton, and Wolves made up for their defeat in the opening round.

Watford, Chelsea, Tottenham, Manchester United, and Liverpool completed a league ‘double’ on their opponent.

Back-to-back draws for West Ham after sharing the points in a 1-1 draw with Newcastle United. The point stretched Newcastle’s unbeaten run to 6 league matches {evenly split between wins and draws}

Arsenal had one win all year until this 2-1 victory over Brentford to get.
Leicester City is yet to win a league game this year and it continued after a 2-1 defeat against Wolves.

A ‘1-0’ victory against Aston Vill was Watford won their first match since beating Manchester United on November 20, 2021 – 10 defeats [9 league defeats], 2 draws, in the 12 matches played between the two games.

A 3-0 win at Brighton was Burnley’s first game won since October 30, 2021. [a 3-1 win vs Brentford]. There have been 12 matches played between the two games; with Burnley getting 5 defeats [4 in the league] 7 draws from them.

The newly crowned World Champion narrowly escaped Selhurst Park with a win. The match looked to be heading for a goalless draw until Hakim Ziyech decided the game in Chelsea’s favor by scoring the only goal of the game in the 88th minute.


Sadio Mane scored the equalizing goal in a spectacular fashion as Liverpool recovered from a goal down to get the expected three points against Norwich through a 3-1 win in Anfield against Norwich. It was a tough-luck for Norwich City to go from playing Manchester City to playing Liverpool the following round.

 

MANCHESTER City 2-3 TOTTENHAM
Manchester City came into the game 9 points clear and in a much better form than a Tottenham side that had lost three straight league matches. We wondered if a ‘cornered’ Tottenham had it in them to do a league double on Manchester City, and they did just that.
A goal from a penalty spot in the final added minutes looked to have rescued Manchester City from a losing position against Tottenham but Dejan Kulusevski and Harry Kane had other plans. Dejan Kulusevski scored in the 4th minute to get Tottenham an early lead, Harry Kane restored the lead after Ilkay Gundogan had canceled it, Kulusevski and Harry Kane combined for the game-winning goal in the fifth minute of the final added minutes after Riyad Maherz had evened the scored through a penalty kick in the second minute of added time.

LEEDS 2- 4 MANCHESTER UNITED: The best Leeds United could do was score one more and concede one less goal than they did in the opening round against Manchester United. Manchester United grabbed a 4-2 win away from home.
Leeds United made things exciting in the second half when they recovered a 2- goal deficit within a minute. Rodrigo and Raphinha scored in the 53rd and 54th minute [respectively] to cancel the first-half lead that goals from Harry Maguire and Bruno Fernandes had given Manchester United. Fred restored Manchester United’s lead in the 70th minute; giving them the winning goal. Anthony Flanagan ensured the win for United with his goal in the 88th minute.
