15/16 teams have taken their place in the fourth round of the 2020/21 EFL Cup

Teams in the Fourth Round.

  • Newport County
  • Brentford

  • Tottenham (got a bye to advance after positive testing of Leyton Orient players called off the fixture)

 

Manchester City got around Bournemouth to chase their fourth straight title in the competition.
Newport County and Brentford caused the upset when they knocked out Watford and West Bromwich Albion (respectively).
The rest of the fixtures were won by the teams that were tipped as favorites to win.
It wasn’t a walk in the park for all the big teams, but they got the job done to move on in the competition.

  • Chelsea won by 6 goals; Kai Harvetz scored three.
  • Takumi Minamino and Curtis Jones both scored a brace as Liverpool got 7 goals.
  • Newly promoted Aston Villa were two goals up on Bristol City before the 15-minute mark.
  • ‘West Bromwich vs Brentford’ was the only match to be decided by penalty kickoffs. Brentford came out on top.
  • Watford were humiliated by 4th-tier Newport County.
  • Richarlison scored two as Everton comfortably went through Fleetwood Town to get to the fourth round.
  • Arsenal move on after beating Leicester City.

In the FOURTH Round ….

Premier League’s newly-promoted teams (Aston Villa and Fulham) have avoided meeting a Premier League team in the next round. Aston Villa takes on Stoke City, while Fulham goes away to face Brentford.
Newcastle United are drawn against a favorable 4th-tier Newport County.
