Gels on Martins scored the first goal of the 2021-22 French Ligue 1 season. Martins’s goal was not enough to get Monaco the victory.
Jean-Charles Castelletto scored the equalizing goal with a few minutes left of the first half. A shared point might be good for Nantes but not what Monaco had in mind for a season opener at home.
LYON 1-1 BREST
Lyon also dropped points in their opening match of the season. They had to come from a goal down to seal a draw with Brest
TROYES 1-2 PARIS ST. GERMAIN
It looked like PSG were on their way to drop points when newly-promoted Troyes took the lead in the first 10 minutes. Paris St. Germain gained the lead about 11 minutes later to take a 2-1 victory as a start to their season
METZ 3-3 LILLE
the defending champions kicked off the new season by dropping points. Lille found themselves trailing by two goals despite getting on the score sheet first. Thankfully, extended additional minutes allowed Lille to complete the comeback. Burak Yilmaz scored deep into the additional minutes for Lille’s rescue.
Bordeaux 0-2 Clermont Foot
Newly-promoted Clermont Foot started their season with three points from Bordeaux.

MONTPELLIER 2-3 MARSEILLE
Montpellier could not keep a two-goal lead against Marseille. Dimitri Payet scored two goals in the second half to add to Cengiz Under’s goal for Marseille to pick up three points from their season opener.
The four teams that kicked off their season with wins take the top end of the league standing, while their victims occupy the bottom end.
There are 37 more rounds left for all teams to make amends.
