Spanish La Liga after Round 7 – The race tightened up after Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid failed to pick up victories. Ansu Fati made his return and capped off an impressive Barcelona performance.

LA LIGA

There were a few position changes in the ‘top four’ but the occupants remain the same and the leader remained Real Madrid.
The gap at the top narrowed after Real Madrid got involved in a goalless draw with Villarreal.
Real Sociedad used a win against Elche to move up a position to second place, while Atletico Madrid fell two positions to fourth after a defeat against Alaves
Sevilla moved up to third after a win against Espanyol.

Getafe remains without a point after playing 7 matches.

ALAVES 1-0 ATLETICO MADRID
The first win for Alaves, the first defeat for Atletico Madrid.
After suffering defeat in their opening five matches, an early goal in the 4th minute ended up being enough for Alaves their first win of the new season.

SEVILLA 2-0 ESPANYOL
Sevilla with 10 men doubled their lead to win 2-0 against an Espanyol side that was looking to make their victory consecutive from their first win of the season in the last round.

VALENCIA 1-1 ATHLETIC CLUB
Valencia took a point through a goal in the 90+5′

REAL MADRID 0-0 VILLARREAL
Real Madrid was held to a goalless draw at home against Valencia.
With Atletico Madrid suffering defeat against Alaves, this was a missed opportunity for Real Madrid to widen their lead at the top of the table.
The result kept both teams unbeaten in the league. Villarreal has drawn five of their six league matches.

BARCELONA 3- 0 LEVANTE
Memphis Depay and Luuk de Jong had Barcelona 2- goals up before the quarter of the hour. Ansa Forti made his return to football after a lengthy injury spell in the 81st minute and scored the final goal of the game 10 minutes later. Barcelona put an end to consecutive league matches of draws.

RAYO VALLECANO 3-1 CADIZ
After kicking off the season with a consecutive defeat, it’s been three straight victories in a streak of five matches unbeaten for Rayo Vallecano.

REAL SOCIEDAD 1-0 ELCHE
Mikel Oyarzabal’s goal sealed the three points for Real Sociedad to take advantage of the points dropped by the Madrid giants [Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid].

MALLORCA 2-3 OSASUNA
Osasuna got two second-half goals to regain the lead and three points at Mallorca’s expense. Mallorca is now four matches without a victory; losing three.

REAL BETIS 2- 0 GETAFE
Willian Jose’s brace set Real Betis up for victory to keep Getafe on a 100% losing start
