Real Sociedad was held at home to a goalless draw by a Cadiz side that is in desperate need of points to battle the threats of relegation.

Enes Unal scored two goals to fund Getafe’s first-half 3-0 lead but it was Borja Mayoral’s goal that ended up being the winning goal for Getafe to pick up the three points through a 3-2 win over a Girona side that was looking to make it three wins in a row.

Back-to-back win for Villarreal after four straight league defeats. Second-half goals in the final 15 minutes of regulation time got Villarreal a 2-0 away victory over an Almeria side that was victorious against Barcelona in the previous round.

Lucas Boye’s strike off a corner kick handed Elche a late goal in the 88th minute to beat Mallorca 1-0. Mallorca pulled a goal back in the added minutes but was chopped off by VAR after a foul was noticed ahead of the play.

You know things are going bad when Ivan Rakitic is missing a penalty and Atletico Madrid is putting 6 goals past your defense. Memphis Depay opened the scoring with a brace, and Alvaro Moarata ended the scoring with another brace. Sevilla followed a 3-2 home defeat to Osasuna with a 6-1 defeat in Madrid against Atletico. A goal from Antoine Greizemann and Yannick Cassraco was sandwiched between the two goals from Depay and Morata.

It was not an impressive performance but Barcelona (even with 10 men) got the three points for a narrow victory at home against a relegation-zoned Valencia. Raphinho headed in the only goal of the match in the 15th minute. Ferran Torres failed to double the lead after missing a penalty in the 55th minute, and Ronald Araujo picked up a red card three minutes later for tackling to deny a scoring opportunity. Valencia exhibited why they are in the relegation zone by how wasteful they were even when with the numerical advantage.

Athletic Club ended a run of two league defeats and a defeat in the Copa del Reay with a point from a goalless draw with Rayo Vallecano.

Another set of points dropped by Real Madrid in their title defense after going goalless in Seville against Real Betis. Real Betis is 4 games unbeaten (3 wins and this draw), while Real Madrid’s most recent victory came in the Champions League against Liverpool. Real Madrid has dropped points in the Madrid derby against Atletico, lost the first leg of the Copa del Rey at home in an El Clasico (against Barcelona), and now has a goalless draw with Real Betis. Barcelona’s grip [ on the league title is getting tighter.
