#SOTW – an El Clasico legend

They made their own luck. These are the players that were instrumental in their team’s performance over the past weekend.

As it is with every other week, picking the outright brightest star is never easy, and sometimes blinding. There were many bright spots over the weekend, but these are the men that were able to make our list.

The final shortlist for #SOTW included…

Harry Kane (Burnley vs Tottenham Hotspur) – English Premier League
Sergio Aguero (Manchester City vs AFC Bournemouth) – English Premier League
Mattia Destro (Chievo Verona vs Bologna) – Italian Serie A
Medhi Benatia (Juventus vs Roma) – Italian Serie A
Mesut Ozil (Arsenal vs Liverpool) – English Premier League

Marek Hamsik (Napoli vs Sampdoria) – Italian Serie A

But the SOTW will have to go to
Lionel Messi
(Real Madrid vs FC Barcelona) – Spanish La Liga

For scoring his 25th goal in El Clasico. A goal that keeps him at the top of players to score in the El Clasico and gave insurance goal to guide Barcelona to a victory.
