English Premier League

Round 26 – English Premier League – Liverpool clinches Champions League qualification.

26 games into the season and very little doubt that the 2019/20 Premier League Champions will be Liverpool.

Sadio Mane came off the bench to score the only goal of the match; which happened to be his 100th goal in the Premier League.
Liverpool have won 17 matches in a row.
They remain unbeaten in the league, picking up their 25th league victory in the 26th round of the Premier League season.
They are on course to finish with over 110 points (112 if they keep up their winning streak). The Invincible season is very much alive.

If two points were awarded for their wins and a point awarded for a draw, this Liverpool side would currently be on top of the league table.

Unfavorable weather conditions forced the postponement of the “Manchester City vs Everton’ match.

Sheffield United stayed in the Champions League qualifying position after coming from behind to beat Bournemouth for the three points.

Adrian Mariap’s own goal denied Watford from a needed win against Brighton. Watford’s relegation battle continues.

Everton doubled the point-gap between themselves and Crystal Palace with a ‘3-1’ home win to kick off the round.

Nothing to separate Wolves and Leicester City after playing out another goalless draw in the 2019/20 season.

Danny Ings scored a goal to make up for his defensive error that put Southampton behind in the early minutes of the match but it wasn’t enough for his side to avoid defeat at home against Burnley.

It marked three straight wins in the league for Tottenham.
Heung-Min Son scored in the injury-time of both halves to make it possible for Tottenham to leave Aston Villa with three points.

All the goals came in the second half as Arsenal ended up thrashing Newcastle 4-0. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored his 15th goal in the competition while Arsenals ‘first’ four forwards grabbed a goal each. (Nicolas Pepe, Alexandre Lacazette, Mesut Ozil).

Jamie Vardy remains top scorer with 17 goals.
Danny Ings and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang move up to 15 goals each in this round.

Manchester United completed a league double against Chelsea after a ‘2-0’ victory at Stamford Bridge.
The result cut the gap between the two sides to 3 points; making the chase for a Champions League finish interesting.
Chelsea – 41 points
Tottenham – 40 points
Sheffield United (promoted this year) – 39 points
Manchester United – 38 points
