Round 25 of the 2019/20 French Ligue 1 – Marseille closes in on PSG. (kinda, sorta)

 

Ligue 1
Paris St.Germain’s lead is reduced from 12 to 10 points.
Marseille opens up an 11-point gap between the top two and the rest of the league.
Despite Rennes suffering defeat, Marseille’s victory over Lille allowed Rennes to keep third place in the standings.

Monaco is touching distance from the top 4 after beating Montpellier.
Lyon falls out of the top half after a draw with Strasbourg.
Nice move into the top half of the standings after beating bottom tabled Toulouse.

Nimes moved out of the bottom three with a win against Angers.

Islam Slimani’s decided the match for Monaco against Montpellier with his goal in the 57th-minute.
Monaco used the victory to leap above Montpellier in points and position in the league.

Amiens went up 3-0 on PSG but allowed PSG to score three corners to get level. Then PSG rallied to take a 4-3 lead. And then scoring a 91st minute equaliser allowed Amiens to keep a point. It’s one of those matches where it is difficult to say which of the teams is happier with the final score.

Mounir Chouiar opened and closed the scoring for the match to ensure that Dijon left Bordeaux with a point.
Five league matches unbeaten for Bordeaux.

Nantes were held to a goalless draw at home by Metz.

A fourth straight win in the league for Nimes after Moussa Kone scored in the 80th-minute for a victory against a 10-man Angers side.

Toulouse finished the man with 9 players after having a player sent off in each half.
Nice found an early goal to take the lead and a goal in the final minutes of additional time to ensure a win against bottom table Toulouse.
It’s 15 defeats in 16 straight matches without a win for Toulouse.(In all competitions)

Lyon couldn’t keep their lead; and were held at home to a point by Strasbourg.
Its four straight league matches without a win for Lyon (2L 2D).

Saint-Etienne couldn’t completely recover from going 3 goals down in the first half against Bret.
They found 2 goals in the second half to end the match in a ‘3-2’ defeat; making it their fourth straight league defeat.

Rennes were unable to get a win that would have allowed them to take advantage of the ‘Lille vs Marseille’ result. Rennes lost ‘1-0’ at Reims.
Marseille got more comfortable in second place after bouncing back from a goal down In the second half to leave Lille with three points.
