Burnley jumped over Southampton in the league standings after getting a ‘1-0’ home victory.

You could argue from the balance of play that this was not a deserving victory for Burnley. But this is football and being clinical in both offense and defense it important to secure points.

Hull City                                                3-1                 AFC Bournemouth

An early lead could not help Bournemouth avoid an away defeat to Hull City.

Abel Hernandez scored a brace, giving Hull City both the equalizer and the winner.

Sunderland                                       1-3                     Stoke City

Jermain Defoe 40’                                                      Marko Arnautovic 15’ 22’

Jermain Defoe keeps scoring, but Sunderland is not moving much in the league standings.

Arsenal scored two goals to sandwich two Swansea City’s ‘own-goals’ and moved temporarily up to third place in the Premier League standings.

With their position on the league table and their form this season, this was not a surprising result.

Watford                                             0-0                      Middlesbrough

Home advantage couldn’t help Watford find a victory against Middlesbrough.  Match finished in a goalless draw and Watford maintained their two-point gap in the league standings.

The outcome was the same as their earlier meeting.  Chelsea once again defeated Leicester City ‘3-0’ in the 2016-17 Premier League season.

Manchester United and Liverpool will complete the 2016/17 Premier League season without enjoying a league victory over their rival.

It is always a big occasion when these two teams meet. For the 2016/17 Premier League season, fans of the two most successful sides in English football won’t have bragging rights over the other.
