After Swansea City’s attempt to end Chelsea’s undefeated start to their season, it was who Liverpool went away to end Chelsea’s undefeated start to their 2016 Premier League season.

Jordan Henderson scored the winner for Liverpool with an amazing long range strike to beat Chelsea’s goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois. It was 2-0 at the end of the first half, but Diego Costa scored again in a match that Chelsea had conceded to cut the deficit in half.

Another dominant performance from Arsenal saw Alexis Sanchez scored a hat-trick as the gunners left Hull City as 4-1 winners. It could have been four goals for Sanchez if he had converted a penalty awarded to Arsenal in the 40th minute. A penalty that resulted in the sending off of Hull City’s Jake Livermore.

Robert Snodgrass tried to make things interesting when he scored a penalty for Hull City in the 79th minute. His goal had made the score a 2-1 win to Arsenal, but Alexis Sanchez scored in a few minutes later in the 83rd minute to restore the two-goal lead for Arsenal.

 

Arsenal new boy Granit Xhaka scored a screamer to finish  the match. It is now three winless matches for Hull City after their amazing start to the 2016/17 Premier League season.

 

Leicester City                   3-0          Burnley

After slipping to a newly promoted side in their first match of the season, Leicester City was not looking to let it happen again.

A goal at the end of the first half and at the start of the second half gave Leicester City their second win of the season.  Islam Slimani scored both goals for Leicester before Ben Mee scored an own goal to bury Burnley deeper.

Manchester City             4-0        AFC Bournemouth

607246072Manchester City continues with their perfect start to their season and grabbed another impressive win. Two goals in each half was how Man City saw off AFC Bournemouth.

 

West Bromwich Albion         4-2           West Ham United

West Ham United scored two goals in the second half, but it was just to cut in half the lead West Bromwich Albion’s had.

On the balance of play, the scoreline should probably be reverted. West Ham suffered their fourth league defeat in five matches. It is also three straight losses in the league for West Ham.

 

Everton               3-1            Middlesbrough

Everton had to come from a goal down to win at home against newly promoted Middlesbrough and stay undefeated in the season.

A mistake by Everton’s goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg gave Middlesbrough a lead that was soon canceled by Gareth Barry.

Early optimism for a league title for Manchester United is evaporation after their second loss in a row in the league. Watford defeated Manchester United 3-1, with a late penalty giving the home team a two-goal win.

Jose Mourinho and his men would be needing to find a solution to this before it gets trendy.

 

Crystal Palace      4-1     Stoke City

It was three losses in a row for Stoke City after their trip to Crystal Palace ended in a 4-1 defeat.  Stoke City remains winless and sit at the bottom of the league table.

Southampton 1-0 Swansea City

After 4 matches in the 2016/17 season, Southampton gets their first win of the season.

607525200A second half goal from Charlie Austin was how Southampton was able to separate themselves from Swansea City.

 

The win sends Southampton a point over Swansea City on the league table.  

 

Tottenham Hotspur 1-0 Sunderland

Tottenham move up to third place in the league standings after Harry Kane’s second half goal gave Sunderland another defeat to the start of their season.

Sunderland joined Stoke City as the only two teams left without  win in the 2016/17 Premier League season
